This morning I set out at about 08:30 and it was 38°C. The first village of Narrilleo de San Leonardo had nothing open, later same applied with Cardenosa, the second village, where there was supposed to be a shop open to buy supplies. The third village Penalva de Avila had nothing to offer except water from the spring, that the villagers could guarantee, so I kept going to Gotorrendura, my destination for the day.
Monday morning, leaving Avila on Roman road
Road after Avila
One of the many villages of the last two days
Back to the open road and sky.
Roman ruins en route.
Arriving at Gotanendura yesterday
Church where I attended Mass at 17:00.
Albergue, simple and rustic, made of mud bricks.
No bar in the village and no shop, the meal one of the villagers brought in for me.
The Mass with all 6 of us. Church dedicated to S Michael and Teresa, a good combo!
Where Teresa was born before the family moved to Avila.
All that remains of the family home is the dovecote
